Edinburgh, Scotland - Paratrooper of the 300th Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers trains his flame-thrower so that the stream of fire attacks the interior of Dreghorn Castle Edinburgh. Through the centuries the Dreghorn battlements has withstood many attacks and had endured many sieges but this was the last for there was no one on the ramparts to defend the structure. The War Department order the demolition because the castles was beginning to suffer serious outbreaks of dry rot. The castle was burned to a shell. August 1 1955.
